January 3, 2013. The Presidio de San Saba´ was chosen as the site for the Austin Police Association to memorialize former Austin Police Officer, Houston McCoy. Mr. McCoy, a native of Menard, Texas, passed away on December 27th. He moved to Austin in 1963. While a member of the Austin Police Department, he was awarded the Police Medal of Valor for ending the August 1, 1966 University of Texas tower shootings.
